Photographer Molly Kate wrote and posted a selection of intriguing statements and photos around the theme of street photography under lockdown.

Her tools she used to create these understated photos was her FujiFilm camera although she expressed a interest into playing with 35mm film cameras.I am not usually drawn to street photography however lockdown being the subject made me pay attention purely because it was relevant to my topic.

I loved the artists resilience to not letting lockdown get in the way of her passion and taking inspiration from it and pushing it further to create something beautiful. I also really appreiacted spotting the people dotted in the images- made tiny from the photos perspective. It reminded me of a 'Wheres Wally' kind of vibe.

Other details about her images which I admired where the way in lots of them she got the subject (absorbed into their everyday life) bang in the middle to the shot. Even if it was presented at a different angle the crisp beauty of the shots and the uncontrolled architecture really struck a chord with my artistic side.

Even though things are slowly getting more and more back to normal I feel this is still a great way to (with consent!) take pictures of strangers without endangering their health. As I said before portraiture is more my 'thing' but I love the angles in which the people and buildings come together and its motivated me to take more urban style shots.

Kate wrote about having more time on her hands has made her take further notice of locations and how the lighting etc changes at certain types of the day. I think this is something I need to improve on as way too often I am caught short with overcast Skys resulting in mucky looking visuals. Obviously if this is what your after then perfect, however for me I love the sun bouncing off the scenery and well lit, natural light portraits. After my own personal project is finished and I start doing less spontaneous shoots the need to plan and be prepared for professional shoots will be crucial for me so reading Kates thoughts helped assure me.
