HENRY

On the 24th of March I met up with one of my friends Henry to catch up and inevitably take photos. The weather played in my favour on the day as the sunlight created beautiful shadows and accentuated the light dappling through the trees.

The location for this shoot was in Victoria park- centred around near the pond and the naturalistic setting there.

With my shoots so far I have been keeping the backgrounds to the same sort of similar vibe whilst there is limited places open.

You may think this is a cop out or 'boring' however my reasoning behind this is too one; not repeat any of the same settings with different people and two; keep the same overall vibe of each individual shoot the same as I personally think it looks neater. Plus for this project as it includes documentation and first hand research I think the smarter look matches it well.

I was fairly pleased by these photos although I think the sun was also a bit of a curse- it meant me having to fiddle around with my ISO and keep changing the angles to avoid the lens being fully exposed to sunlight and thus distracting from my model. Again I used my Sony with my 50mm lens and edited using the enhance feature on wix.

A ongoing goal for me to improve on is getting more confident with directing and staging my chosen model- I still feel like quite a amateur on this and I know this is vital for my skills as portrait photographer to get better at. Again I felt like some of the images didn't need any editing when Id perfected the angles and glare from the sun. If I did edit I routinely used wix enhance feature.

On a personal level Henry is a prime example of someone who I have really gained a deeper connection through the pandemic. Even though I used to go drinking with him we have been meeting up more these past few months one on one and chatting through coffees and cigarettes. I've established a real bond and had conversations we probably wouldn't have had under the influence of alcohol.
