INDIA
DR. MARTENS, BRISTOL

ABOVE: Previous photos from September 2019 of India. I included these to show my progression of the same model in my photography. I personally think I have come so far-not only with the physical elements of my photos and being fully confident with all three cameras I've had since but also mentally as I have become more passionate.

On the third of may I travelled to Bristol to take some shots of my close friend India who I have regularly used for past projects and is a fantastic model.
This shoot was a turning point in my project because It has developed it into post lockdown locations- ie at work. The original premise for this project was how lockdown has shaped my connectionism limiting them ( ie only being able to go for walks) however I think having these shots works well as a timeline integrating back into a less confined world.
I will still keep the interview questions the same however maybe ask all the models going forward how they are coping going back to normality. Or alternatively create a second smaller survey in which I can discover how people are adapting to 'real' life again.
I chose the whereabouts of these captures of time to be set in Dr.Martens Bristol where India works. Not just because its her workplace but also because we share the company as a connection seeing as I work in the bath Dr.Martens.
I think India was a very relevant person to use for my shoots as because we live so far away from each other in lockdown we've had to unite over FaceTime, calls and sending each other gifts. So when I do see her its incredibly precious to me and I enjoy my time with her usually without drinking and we still went for a walk in Bristol even though everywhere was open.
You guessed it- my Sony a7r2 and 50mm lens was used. Unfortunately mirrorless cameras have their downfall with a short battery span- I was not organised enough and hence resulted in my camera losing power when Id only achieved about 50 shots. Never the less I thought these came out really fun looking- my only regret is in the image with the shoe- I wish I had got more takes so I could get her face in focus as well as the shoe. I think this has really taught me to be ready with a camera at all times as you never know what spontaneous images will occur. I tried to improve the sharpness using the wix editor but it sometimes ends up making the image look processed so for the most part I just enhanced the image and turned up the saturation as I feel it makes Indias hair and colourful eyeshadow pop.
This is the last shoot I have done for my FMP and I really think it ties it up with having a work related theme to end it all.
