The first piece of research to be done was exploring four themes - these where as followed Connections, Contain , Abstract and finally Narrative. All where fairly broad titles with much to be interpreted from. I mapped out some mind maps for each theme and have included further research down below.

ARTIST RESEARCH

PHILADELPHIA MURAL ARTS

Arthur C. Evans Jr , PhD has embarked on connecting to peoples mental health through art murals. The Philadelphia art mural arts programs has completed many murals to bring together artists and citizens and Evans used the same approach. This was a effort to destigmatize mental health issues and bring people together to heal, educate and strengthen communities.  Much has come of it and the program has influenced others to do similar things and learn through artwork, I personally think this is such a beautiful idea and the artwork that has come of it is so amazing.

ANDY GOLDSWORTHY

Goldsworthy is an environmental artist who created the very famous illusion of arranging the leaves in such a order or color It results in a glowing effect radiating around the tree. He recreated this idea in different ways and the effects are stunning. He is also a sculptor of nature who has been featured in many exhibitions for his imaganitive and creative work using no artificial materials.

PHOTOGRAPHERS RESEARCH

STEPHANIE LYNNE

Lynne focuses mostly on family photography with lifestyle connections. Her photos mostly feature a backdrop of incredible outdoor scenery. She captures her 'models' in naturalistic ways and I enjoy how they're not too 'posey' but instead have a warming feel of realness to them. I chose her in terms of the theme connections for obvious reasons as what could be a more definite example as showing the real life connections between the emotions of love and care between family members.

ASHLEY GILBERSTON

Whilst reading a article by Fiona Sinclair I came across Gilberston who took a series of photos in lockdown. He had to adapt his approach because of the virus and has had to take photos socially distanced. He touched upon how its now been made impossible for a simple interaction to come about whilst shooting and Sinclair talked about how many photographers have suffered in terms of creativity so I found this article really intresting as its showed how photographers have had to change to still keep the human connections within their work, alive.

MY CONNECTIONS PHOTO SHOOT

Even though connections is the theme I am leaning towards I found it hard to find something which related which wasn't a person ( as thats off the cards at the moment). Instead I took some shots of these daffodils on the dining table. I chose this as to metaphorically represent the human connection with nature and how we adapt it into our homes.

A lot of the shots came out blurry on accident as I am getting used to my new equipment however I liked that look as it made it seem distorted and I think that showcases how less 'real' it is when flowers are picked from their proper place among nature.

I edited one into black and white as my eyes enjoyed how it contrasted against the yellow.
