2ND EDIT

26TH FEBUARY

_DSC0334_edited.jpg

This was the first shoot I did to start off my FMP, I took these shots with my Sony A7r 2 mirrorless and a 50mm 1.8 lens.

The location for the photos was centred around bath in the Royal Crescent and Victoria park area.

The weather on this day in February was the hottest day of 2021 so far and the sunny nature of the day really accentuated the lighting in my pictures.

In particular the image I captured in a bush on the golf course, the blurred bokeh of the leaves contrasting with the sharp, in focus model.

I really believe this is one of the best images I have taken so far - perhaps it came by accident but the glinting sun and the detail of the secret chair and table really made this image produce warmth and invoked emotion in me.

I would generally make a plan before adventuring out camera in hand, however this was completely spontaneous and at this point I wasn't fixed on my project direction.

Next time I will think about location more and hopefully take further images however I am extremely pleased with the overall image quality and composition of the ones i did take.

In reference to the the people in these photos Emily and Callen they are most definitely friends who Ive grown closer too as a result of seeing them on their own or in smaller groups due to the pandemic. Ive had amazing, really spiritual and eye opening conversations without having the distractions of bigger circles without the absence of ( mostly) not drinking.

THE ROYAL CRESCENT

EDITING

Usually I'm not one for manipulating my images in photoshop however I revisited this page and thought I should display some knowledge in order to achieve the best grade possible.

With all the images I simply enhanced them with the wix editor as per usual. With image (1) I processed it with slight grain added and the saturation turned all the way down to create a black and white effect. I believe the result is striking placed next to its coloured partner. Image (2) I did pretty much the same just without the 35mm film/grain result.

After this I inputted the same shot as (2) but with (3) I played around with the lasso tools and inserted clippings from COVID related newspaper headlines. I was really after ones that truly related to my relations topic but mostly failing that I still think the image looks cool and it really ties in my topic physically with the photos.

Underneath (2) and (3) where photos of my other model. Again I used the polygonal lasso tool to insert COVID-related images into the cut outs. (4) shows New York in lockdown- completely empty in the place of a beer can. (5) shows mask litter on the floor in the space where the left side of the background would have been.

Im really pleased with the outcomes because I am still quite unconfident with photoshop however I really do think the image manipulation I achieved further express and showcase that my topic is based around COVID.
